What are the eligibility criteria for different applicant categories for the grant program?
Art for hope program invites applications for Grants under various categories with distinctive eligibility criteria.
1. Individual Grant:
- 40 years and below for applications in visual art, digital art, functional innovative arts and crafts, performance arts and multidisciplinary arts.
- No age limited for artists applying in traditional arts category
- A minimum of 3-4 years of formal training is required for application in visual art, digital art, functional innovative arts, performance arts and crafts and multidisciplinary arts.
- Preference will be given to traditional artisans holding “Pehchaan Cards” issued by Development Commissioners (Handicraft/Handlooms).
- Art must be the primary occupation of the applicant..
- Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) are encouraged to apply in Individual category. In case you are a person with a disability, please provide a UNIQUE DISABILITY ID CARD (UDID) or a certificate for validation.
2. Collective/Institutional Grant:
- This grant is available to registered NGOs, trusts, museums, associations, collectives, artist groups, or social enterprises.
- A group of artists who are not officially registered must apply in Individual grant category..
- The project location should be within India.

All selected grantees will be required to sign a letter of intent with Hyundai Motor India Foundation. In addition they will be required to attend the capacity building sessions which will be held during the tenure of the grant. In-person participation to the exhibition and felicitation ceremony at the program closure is mandatory.

What are the maximum grant limit for different applicant categories?
The maximum project cost limits are as follows:
- 40 grants for individual applicants, including grants for persons with disability the grant amount is Rs. 100,000 each.
- 10 grants for collective applicants, the grant amount is Rs. 200,000 each.

What are the different art categories I can apply to for the grant?
You can apply for a project under the following art categories:
- Visual Art: This includes all forms of drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media that do not involve any digital intervention.
- Digital Art: This category covers all forms of photography, new media arts, filmmaking, multimedia arts and digital arts created using technology..
- Performance Art: This includes all kinds of movement arts, including music and other performing arts.
- Traditional Arts & Culture: This category is to support recognized folk arts and crafts of India, including folk musicians, performers, any research or artisan empowerment program.
- Functional Innovative Art & Crafts: This supports projects focused on sustainable and eco-friendly product innovation or utilitarian product concepts with usage of crafts.
- Multidisciplinary Arts: This supports all art projects that include a cross collaboration of two or more forms of art.

What is a project proposal? What specific details should I include in my project proposal?
Project proposal is a detailed document that enlists your idea and how you will work on the idea. It should contain the following:
- Project Description: Describe in detail your concept and vision, what you want to achieve with the project, what will be the outcome, significance of the project and what will be the outcome at the end of the project.
- Project expansion plan: Please mention how the project can be expanded.
- Timeline: Timeline in which you will complete the project.
- Project Documentation: Outline your plan for documenting the project, including methods such as videography, blogs, etc.
- Budget detail: Detailed budget estimate to specify how the grant fund will be used effectively.
- Impact of the project: Mention the expected result of the project. Please mention in case there is a community impact. You can download a project proposal

You need to provide the following contact details in your application:
- Name: Your full name as per government records.
- Address: The correct address where you need the physical documents to be sent or your registered address.
- City: The city as per your registered documentation.

- Email: The email address where you want to receive formal communication about the project.

What documents do I need to provide when submitting the proposal?
You need to provide the following documents along with your proposal:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV): It lists your professional detail about your education, experience in exhibition participation, awards, workshops, etc.
- Passport photo: Upload a clear photo of yourself.
- Aadhaar: Upload a clear picture of the front and back sides of your Aadhaar card.
- Portfolio: Portfolio is a selected collection of your artwork images with details about them. In case of performance art you should share links of videos.
- Proposal: Proposal includes your project proposal for the grant program. It is a detailed document that clearly mentions what, why, where and how you will be executing the proposed project.

What budget details I must provide to qualify for the Art for hope grants?
Please provide a detailed breakdown of all budget categories, including but not limited to materials, travel, installation, and research costs required for the completion of your project. Additionally, explain how the grant will contribute to your project and outline your expectations for its impact. Be sure to specify the number of artworks you plan to exhibit as part of your proposal.

What is a portfolio? How should I upload my portfolio?
The portfolio is a sample of your previous work relevant to the project. This contains images with descriptions, video links, or links to online portfolios uploaded in a PDF not exceeding 2 Mb in size. It is recommended that you upload a tailored portfolio relevant to the project proposal only. In case of online portfolios, please ensure these are publicly accessible. For performance arts, you can share YouTube/Social Media links.

Is there any theme for the project?
There is no theme. However, we are focused on supporting art projects on environmental or socially relevant themes and/or promotion of traditional arts and culture.

How will the project selected for grant
Due to limited grants every year the applications are evaluated based on uniqueness of project concept, artist background, scope of project to impact community and projects with potential to scale up.
The final 40 projects will be selected based on aggregate of scores received in Jury evaluation and verification of applicants.
