Terms & Conditions

Welcome to Art for hope, an exceptional initiative inspired by Hyundai's global vision of "Progress for Humanity." We invite applications from artists across various art forms to apply for program 2025. Please review the following terms and conditions carefully before submitting your application to ensure clarity and prevent misunderstandings.

Who can Apply?

Project proposals are invited from individual artists, collectives, institutions, or foundations across various domains, including visual art, performance art, digital art, folk and traditional arts, crafts, and community arts.

  • Artists from Institutions:
    • Registered NGOs
    • Trusts
    • Museums
    • Associations
    • Collectives
    • Social Enterprises
  • Individual Artists:
    • Practicing artists under the age of 40 (no age limit for the traditional art category).
    • Formally trained in arts for a minimum of 3-4 years, unless the artist is a traditional or folk artist.
    • Artisan cards are required for traditional artists.
    • Art must be the primary occupation of the participant.
    • Grants are open only to Indian citizens residing in India, with a preference for youth, women, and artists from non-metro cities.
  • Specially-abled Artists:
    • Specially-abled artists are encouraged to apply under the individual category.
    • Specially-abled artists may receive additional mentorship and guidance to facilitate project completion.
    • Applicants must provide their UNIQUE DISABILITY ID CARD (UDID) or a certificate for validation.

How to Apply?

  • Participants can submit their applications on the website: www.hyundaiartforhope.com.
  • Participants can furnish details in the form along with a project proposal in any Indian language, in 800-1000 words.
  • The submission should include:
    • Project proposal (800-1000 words) in any Indian language, detailing objectives, process, timeline, detailed use of funds, and expected outcomes.
    • CV and artist statement.
    • Portfolio.
    • One reference letter.
    • Government identity card (Aadhaar, PAN).

Selection Criteria

  • Completed application forms meeting the eligibility criteria will be considered.
  • Previous grant recipients from Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF) or other organizations are advised not to apply.
  • Project proposals addressing community-relevant social and environmental causes, unless in support of recognized traditional arts and crafts will be considered.
  • Art/craft works of Specially Abled artists will be evaluated considering their unique perspectives and challenges.
  • HMIF appointed panel of jury members will select artists based on:
    • Artist portfolio and project proposal.
    • Quality of art.
    • Community/social impact of the proposed project.
    • Originality of concept.

Purpose of Grant

The grant supports artists in procuring materials to execute the project or support their livelihood if materials are already available. Artists must use the grant to complete the projects as proposed for public viewing. Grants will be distributed in two phases: 50% upon selection and 50% after project completion, submission of a closing report, and public exhibition.

  • Other Conditions:
    • Projects can be located anywhere in India and must be completed within 6-8 weeks of the grant announcement.
    • Projects, in whole or in part, will be displayed in a group public exhibition in Delhi/NCR or any other location at HMIF's discretion.
    • Artists must submit a 1000-word report on grant utilization within 30 days of project completion, including process images and descriptions for final grant disbursement.
    • HMIF's advisory committee will provide mentorship and guidance for project execution and may direct artists to work in collaboration.

Agreements

Selected artists must sign a letter of undertaking with HMIF.

Content Standards

  • The art created by artists must be original and innovative and not be copied or translated from any source.
  • Art content depicting racial abuse, violence, immorality, unethical behavior, illegality, anti-social messages, obscenity, anti-religious sentiments, inflammatory or defamatory messages, pornography, vulgarity, nudity, or promotes discrimination, bigotry, racism, hatred, or otherwise objectionable content of any kind, will be rejected by HMIF.

Usage Rights & Participation

    By submitting proposals, artists allow HMIF to use the art, images, videos, personal information, etc., for marketing or promotional purposes. Upon HMIF’s request, artists shall participate in joint press conferences, which may be organized from time to time.

Confidentiality

    Artists/Grantees shall not disclose any confidential information that includes but is not limited to proprietary, technological, economic, legal, administrative, personal, or any other information, of HMIF, to any third party, for any reason whatsoever, without HMIF's prior written consent.

Intellectual Property Rights

  • Artists shall retain the intellectual property rights of the art developed by them but agree to grant HMIF free, non-exclusive, non-transferable usage rights.
  • All other intellectual property rights on reports, documents, and materials produced will be and remain HMIF’s property.
